Eyjafjallajökull on Flickr.
Eyjafjallajökull, south Iceland.
Eyjafjallajökull is one of the smallest ice caps of Iceland, situated to the west of the bigger Mýrdalsjökull . The ice cap covers the caldera of a volcano with a summit elevation of 1,666 metres. The volcano has erupted relatively frequently since the last glacial period, most recently in 2010 and from 1821 to 1823.
In the picture is visible Gigjökull , Eyjafjallajökull’s largest outlet glacier.
